Prep Your Skin for the Return to Travel
Posted on 16 July 2021
If you are like many people, you may have avoided traveling by airplane over the past year. The good news is that things are beginning to return to normal, and that means plane travel is making a comeback. If it has been a long time, you may have forgotten how flying can be harsh on your skin, with recirculating air drying it out. It is time to remind you how to prep your face to minimize travel damage as well as point out the importance of using hand sanitizer.
Cleanse the Face Before Boarding
No matter what time your flight is, you should thoroughly wash and exfoliate your face before leaving the house. This removes residue and provides a clean canvas for your other facial products. Be sure to do this again once you reach your destination as well so you can get all the residue left over from travel.
Flying completely dries out the skin, so it is important to provide layers of hydration after cleansing the face. Use a hydrating serum and then a face cream before applying any makeup, which should be kept to a minimum for the flight.
Maintain Cleanliness with Hand Sanitizer
Washing your hands is especially important these days, but access to soap and water is limited when flying. Carry hand sanitizer with you and apply it before boarding and throughout the flight.
Reapply Moisturizer Throughout the Flight
You should also carry moisturizer on the flight with you (but make sure it is travel sized). Reapply when your skin feels or looks dry.
Drink Non-Alcoholic Beverages
Staying hydrated from within will also minimize the drying effects of flying. Drink lots of water and carry a large water bottle that you can refill at the airport before your flight takes off. Avoid any alcoholic beverages at the airport or on the plane, as these cause further dehydration.
When you need facial products for travel, Body Merry has a variety of options that will get through security as well as larger bottles to pack in your checked luggage.
