Cellulite 101
Posted on 13 May 2020
Cellulite is a stubborn type of fat found just under the surface of the skin within connective tissue, giving a dimpled appearance. It is commonly found on women's buttocks, hips and thighs, and usually occurs after puberty. Anyone can have it regardless of their weight and/or size in large part due to inheritance.
What causes cellulite?
The real cause of cellulite is unknown, but contributing factors may include:
- Hormone treatments or use of certain medications (certain hormones like estrogen encourage the body to build up and store fat, increasing cellulite)
- Smoking: Smoking causes connective tissues to become stretched and broken, allowing underlying fat to push its way to the surface
- Weight gain: An increase in body weight will lead to an increase in fat tissue, making cellulite more apparent
Treatment
Body Merry offers a top-selling Cellulite Defense Gel-Cream, which includes ingredients like caffeine and cayenne that activate circulation, reduce fat and menthol to make you feel cool as a cucumber (literally). Caffeine helps dehydrate fat cells, helping skin become more even, and some researchers state that it can help to reduce the thickness of fat. Apply once a day, to clean, dry skin on the areas affected by cellulite. Body Merry’s stretch marks and scars defense line can also be used to fight signs of cellulite.
